Would cam gears be worth the money on stock cams? I'am looking at buying some skunk2 cam gears and was wondering if they would be worth the power gains. What is the avg. power gain? Any comments greatly appreciated. Thanx guys in advance!!!!

they have to be tuned to get any power and i would say if you played around with them maybe 3-4 hp ??

I would say about the same got to tune them to get anything but nothing that really noticable but then again every little bit helps

agreed every little bit helps and those help out alot with more mods and tuning down the road. good luck

I was wondering about that too since im going to change my t-belt soon. i got a b7, and i know the lighter the cam gear is the faster the throttle response, but probally no hp gains... just like a lightened flywheel, it wont give much extra hp, it just goes to the top end hp faster (faster throttle response). so i guess the question is has anyone tried it and actually felt some extra accleeration?

If you aren't buying the gears with the intention of properly tuning them, then they definitely are not worth the expense.

I agree, if you're gonna do it yourself without a dyno, don't bother buying them because you won't know what exactly you are changing. If you plan on taking it to a dyno and have someone mess with them, then it would be worth it. I bought my used skunk2 gears for 110.

You will only gain a few horses with stock cams but once you get bigger cams you will notice the difference
