Default Cam gear position gone wrong????

I was doing a timing belt on my 90 CRX DX with a b16a swap. The cam gears were all messed up and I'm trying to figure out what the exact position is on them while the engine is in top dead center, because when I put the engine to TDC and take the belt off and line the cam gears to the up position and then the little marks on the gears line up next to eachother on the inside. But when I put everything back together and start it up it wont rev past like 3000 rpms. WTF is wrong can somebody help me I need my car!!!!!!

sounds like your engine is not at TDC. did you put something down in the spark plug holes to make sure? my friend put his cams in upside down and it did the samething.

Yeah I put a really long screw driver down there and waited to see when TDC was and then went on from there I'm just gonna bring it somewhere and have them put it on for me so I dont have to worry about this bullshit.

TDC is not just for cam markings, there is a marking on the crank pulley as well. That has to be lined up too. There is a notch on the crank pulley that lines up with an arrow on the water pump, align that one, then align the cams accordingly, and slip back on the timing belt, and tighten the tensioner, and try that. Helms manual owns you at the moment. Go download it from http://www.hondahookup.com/manuals or something.

I have checked everything and have had others check everything and it all lines up PERFECTLY, but still not start it just keeps cranking. It used to start and run real rough but not it just cranks. I have a helms manual and everything has been done just as it says. Why wont it start? Could it be at the wrong TDC or something I dont think that theres is 2 besides intake and exhaust but I have the Up arrows on the cam gears vertical and the little marks on the sides of them lined up with the mark on the rear timing belt cover. And the Crank pully gear is on the mark down there what else could I be missing.?
