Default calling all eg owners with single cammers

how fast is the engine spinning at 60/65/70/75 mph on your dx/lx tranny or ex tranny 5 speed manual?

mines is at 2,500 rpm at 60mph, i'm not sure if i have a ex or dx transmission. the previous owner said he changed the tranny, but didnt know which one was on. i'm hoping that its a dx tranny, since i want to save gas these days while on the highway.

before i did my swap i would run about 2500rpm at 65mph. that was a d15 non vtec motor with lx tranny. i swapped in a d16z6 (motor only, kept the lx tranny), not sure what my rpm's are, i'd have to check. but i went from 37mpg to 33mpg, its still worth it for me though becuase that d15 was horrible. couldn't maintain speed uphill on interstate and merging onto the freeway was just dangerous!

SOUNDS EXACTLY LIKE MY CAR!! :-p
Merging, however, i just rev it up. But nothing can really save me from long uphill climbs on the highway other than flooring it before i get to the hill and using the momentum to try to stay above 60 until reach the top!!

is it really that bad of an acceleration? i had my car for 4 years, i never minded the acceleration. i really dont need to race or anything like that, just use it as a DD, point a to b car that gets great gas mileage.

Paprike, whats your rpm's at 60, 70, etc?

I've got an '92 LX and I'm just at 3,000 going 80. If that helps any.

it would help alittle if you would specify what gear you're talking about.

I have a y8 in my hatch and i cruise at 120km/h at like 3k rpm. I had a d15b7 before that and it was almost the same, the y8 has much better accelaration though.

92-95 civics</TD></TR></TABLE>

With a DX/LX trans:
60mph = 2450
65mph = 2655
70mph = 2860
75mph = 3065

With a EX trans:
60mph = 2645
65mph = 2865
70mph = 3090
75mph = 3310

(All values +/- .1mph)

Those are with the OEM tires, the OEM tach isn't really accurate enough to tell by that.

The largest difference in gearing is the second gear, that's where you'll find the most accurate.

EX:
@ 6500 RPM in 2nd you should be hitting about 54mph

DX/LX:
@ 6500 RPM in 2nd you should be hitting about 61mph

Since Honda tachs aren't really accurate worth of dick, you'll need to kinda combine those notes to figure it out, that way.

He said he's doing 60mph @ 2500 RPM.

You know any OEM '92-'95 civic trans's that do 2500 RPM @ 60mph in a different gear than 5th?
