calling all del sol owners...HELP...
i purchased a del sol shell and im in the process of putting a d16y8 into it. everything bolts up but the SHIFT LINKAGE. my question is "do i need del sol SPECIFIC shift linkage" i have tried an eg sohc and ek sohc shift linkages and both are short by about 1 1/2 inches.
please confirm and or what others did. thanks in advance

Which rod is 1.5 inches short? Is it possible that you need to put the transmission into a different gear and pivot the shifter forward to make it connect? Is it possible that the linkage is in upside down or that the shifter is in backwards?

nope, the del sol's shifter sits in a diffrent position then on integras and civics, making it need diffrent linkages, weather there is a b or a d series in there. Check the classified here and hondalife.com (the unoffical del sol forum)

Re: (asmallsol)
thanks for answering the ?. i had a feeling i needed del sol specific linkages. i think im going to just cut and reweld ( i have 3 sets of linkages now).
BUT i thought of another solution...
the real problem is this.. the linkage that actually is doing the shifting is just a bit off. if you pull the thing from the tranny all the way back, itll fit BUT only if i pull the linkage all the way (leaving no slack). now the other linkage (stablizer) connects to a piece that is held in by 2 screws. i figure if i can put 2 new longer screws and some washers, i can push that piece out further (about 1 1/2 inches) and connect to it to the stablizer linkage. now i havent done it yet, but i wonder by straining the shifter linkage, will that allow me to shift like normal or would it pull the shifter down (due to no slack). oh well. lmk what you guys think.
