California Smog questions
Well, it's that time of year. I have a 1998 Honda Civic LX with a generic cold air intake, matrix muffler (nothing else done to exhaust), and i replaced my headers like 4 months ago. ok, here are the questions;
will they fail me because i have a generic CAI w/ no CARB sticker?
does my muffler affect my ability to pass smog at all?
when i replaced my headers, i forgot to replace the downpipe gasket. will this affect my ability to pass smog? the gasket on the exhaust manifold is fine.
anyone in california been through this sorta thing before? i plan to put the stock intake back on just to simplify things. will the other things be a problem?

Re: California Smog questions (Campee)
Depending on where you get your smog done, they might try to nail you for the generic intake. As far as the manifold, as long as you have the cat in the stock location, you should be good to go. If it isn't too much trouble, I would swap the stock intake back in. That way you shouldn't have any problems passing visual.

It's pretty much up in the air for the intake. If you had to go to a referee, they wouldn't pass you because of the intake. Most mom and pop smog shops porbably wouldn't really say anything, but you never know.

It's not up in the air. You failed because of the generic intake.
California Smog laws require all modifications to smog equipment have a CARB EO number.

Nope, that should not be a problem, do you have any noticeable exhaust leaks as a result of no gasket?

Re: California Smog questions (00fbp)
what if you only have an aftermarket muffler? will they fail you for that?
It looks like my friend just hooked it up with the owner of a shop that will pass me on the visual inspection. Now I need to pass on the machine. Will my intake ruin my chances of passing on the machine? The motor is stock other than the intake. Any thoughts?

they might say something about your intake, what kinda header do you got?
no carb eo# should be an auto fail.
along with any leak in the exhaust system....ie: exh. manifold gasket.

Re: California Smog questions (Campee)
the muffler will not affect emmissons at all, i passed with a jdm b16 at my last smog check, i had the stock manifold, and airbox and at that time the motor was completly bone stock, i just tuned it up completly and passed.
sleeper status.
just put your stock air box on and fix the gasket and you will be fine.
