which cali ref station did you go to???
how was your experience(good/bad)? and where?
did anyone have a obdII bseries and said it was an obdI? and passed?
some have told me that the el monte and rialto ref stations are pretty understanding and not *****...
i'm just doing research for a buddy who is dropping a b18c in his eg9. as you can tell the eg9 is obdI and the motor is off a 96gsr...
all in all we would like to know if having a 96gsr then using obdI(dist, wiring, ecu) would make the swap pass with flying colors???
thanks in advance...

I don't want to say which one, because he happened to be cool and I don't want to get him busted. But I will tell you which one NOT to go to:
El Camino College in Torrance. The guy is the biggest jerk imaginable and failed me for my evap canister and intake.
It's basically a 2 part test (a)visual and (b)smog test. The visual basically checks if all of the emission equipment was transfered across from the host to the donor car, i.e-integra motor into a civic must have all of the smog equipment from the integra carried over. At this stage stock is best, if you do have something aftermarket make sure the carb# matches with the product, i.e-if the carb # on your aem is for a b16 but you have a B18. For the the second part leave your car running as long as possible before the test.
There is actually a third part also. You have to figure being a state smog really must suck. I am sure all of those people he fails aren't going to be inviting him to any parties, so be nice to him. The better his mood the better your chances
