a/c question
is it bad for the a/c if there isn't any freon in the system? I just bought a car an don't believe it has any freon in the a/c. I pushed the nozzles on the hoses and nothing came out and the a/c isn't cold at all. I was just wondering so I drive little as possible before filling it up.

Re: a/c question (JDM_Andrew)
Well yes and no. If there is a line open for an extended period of time chances are that their might be some moisture in the system now. And also, if there isn't any oil left in the system then that could be bad as well. However, if you don't turn on the A/C when the system is dis-charged (even though there is a low pressure switch that will not allow the system to turn on if there isn't enough pressure) then you will be fine. When you do charge the system back up and find the leaks, cause chances are there is a leak some where, be sure to put a nice long vacuum on the system to get any moisture out.
