Default A/C Not Working 95 CIVIC

i have a 95 civic coupe 1.5 non vtec all stock. preasure on high side is about 110psi when the car is off. all fuses are fine. i switched the clutch relay with fan relay did nothing. i put them back to normal. i hit the clutch when car was on and the compresser engaged. i let it sit for a lil about 5min and then took it down the street. it was cold untill i got to the end of the road. the clutch disengaged. wth is goin on lol.

110 is really high, one fo the pressure sensors are sensing abnormal pressures and shuts the compressor off

what are pressures high and low with the car off and when the ac is and compressor is engaged?

The refrigerant pressure with the A/C off just tells you that there is some refrigerant in the system. I don't think it's too high.

Is the problem that when the A/C is turned on, the condenser fan runs but the compressor clutch does not engage? If so, the compressor clutch clearance may be too wide and the clutch needs to be re-shimmed.

what he said...also the coil could be weak.

i disagree ron, although it does depend on what the ambient temp and humidity is

110 psi on the high side with the car off sounds alot like either an overcharge, or there is air in the system. typical pressures should be around 75 psi with the car off

With the A/C off, the high and low sides equalize within 5 or 10 minutes, so what is measured is the static pressure. The latter pressure is dependent on temperature as you point out and can be estimated using a chart like this one:

http://www.csgnetwork.com/r134apresstempconv.html

As you can see from the chart, if the temperature of the refrigerant was around 90F (e.g., caused by hot day, hot engine, A/C recently in use), then a 110 PSI static pressure is expected.

i didnt check the preasure on low side. nor when the compressor was running. i had to hit it with a hammer to get it to start turning. then it just stopped when i drove off. but i didnt get a reading with it engaged.

Since the A/C blew cold when the compressor clutch engaged, don't worry about refrigerant pressures for now. Answer the question in post #3.
