i was in the process of replacing my a/c compressor and found out that the wire to the a/c compressor was cut somehow...so i reattached the wire together and reinstalled it...now my question is shouldn't my a/c compressor engage even if there's no freon in the lines? or is it not suppose to engage...thanks

there should be a low pressure switch built in so that the compressor doesnt overheat and seize. So no, it shouldnt run without coolant.
