What would cause my a/c compressor to click on and off?
I noticed this when I was just driving around in town, It would do it once in a while. But when I drove it on the freeway, the pump would just click on and off.

Would a new compressor solve my problem?

or is it something else.

it sounds to me the pressure is not right within your ac system which will cause the compressor to click on and off like you said. to fix the problem you need to have the pressures checked out within the system using A/C gauges

me and my dad checked it out, and it was to high, so we took some of the r134a juice out.


and we checked it again, and we left it at the right amount.

but it still clicks on and off.

The ECU engages the compressor clutch on and off every 5-10 seconds. Is that the noise you're talking about or is it more frequent?

its more frequent than that.

on the freeway its ridiculous.

its usually a freon problem (too high or too low) but dont rule out wiring problems
