ok so i do not need to remove the whole CC assy to get the button out? i can just leave it in the dash and pick the button out... and install new block off?

LOL, NICE!!!
so you do NOT remove the CC unit at all? and if i dont have to remove the CC unit/panel, does the electrical part of the a/c switch just stays put and just the a.c push button pops out??!
will the block off pop in with ease or will it hit the "guts" or electrical switch part thats behind the button?

LOL.
Consider: When A/C is installed by the dealer (it was almost always a dealer-installed option), the installation instructions state something to the effect: remove block off-plate, install A/C button. It's really that simple. So, what do you think the reverse of that operation would be, if you wanted to remove the A/C button and install the block-off plate?

When i installed a/c on my non-a/c 94 lx, i just popped off the block-off plate and inserted the button and it worked just like that...
