Default Bwahahahahahaha--Shock/Spring installation quote!

650 for LABOR. That's right, nothing but LABOR, no parts. The guy said well you're looking at three and a half hours per axle. so that's 7 hours, plus 80 for alignment. I was like wtf he's like installing those on a civic isn't childsplay...

Is this normal??

if it is

If I DIY do I have to buy a camber kit? Or when I take it in for alignment can they do it without?

Personally, I think if you did it yourself, EVEN if it ended up costing you the entire day to get it complete, wouldnt it be that much more satisfactory? Not to mention the fact you didnt spend 700 dollars to have some ******** down at a garage to do the exact same thing you just did yourself?

Do a search for installing springs or shocks, and you'll see how its done, plenty of info.

650 is way to much, i only charge 100 for springs.

Its a really easy job though, provided you have tools. If you dont have tools then i would recommend taking it to a shop.

How much is your drop? (height wise)

If its more then 2 inches i would get a camber kit, if not then no worries.

Dude, you need to go back to that shop and tell him your girlfriend installed your stuff for free, and it only took her 2 hours total to do it. And tell him she's 16!!!

butthole este individuo!

Word. Most shops do it for that much around here. There is no way any Shop should charge more then 150 for all four. ANd then a Alighnment.

I hate posts like this... First of all, you have absolutely no idea what's involved. You call one shop, then come on here bitching about the quote.

Is there only one shop in your town that can install springs? Unless you live in bumfuck, then no. If you'd taken the time to call around you'd have quickly figured out what a decent price was.

Shop labor is expensive - they have considerably more overhead than some guy doing the install in your driveway. $650's obviously way too much.

If you don't like that though, wait until you go get quotes for that swap your signature says you want.

i agree with jeffs go get some more quotes instead of whining if they are all as high then come bitch.

the best thing to do is take the spring/strut assembly off of the car and take it to a shop with a spring compressor to take the springs dont kill yourself youll save some money on labor and gain knowledge i would say about 1 hour labor to remove and install all of the springs if you take them off yourself.

Punctuation is your friend.

Go to your local auto parts store and rent a spring compressor, no point in being charged for them to do it when you can do it yourself and most likely get your deposit back.

Thats an absolute bullshit quote. If it takes 3.5 hours per axle he must be retarded. Go somewhere else for a quote or DIY with a manual. I know shops around here don't charge more than 200. The shop i hang out at charges 160 for all corners and it takes about 2 hours max.

I'd do it for 50 bucks or less. They're trying to rip you off. With their tools they can probably do each corner in a matter of minutes.
