Buying new Civic Today
I am buying a new Civic today. I do not know too much about cars, so I was wondering if you guys had any suggestions on stuff I should look for and ask.
These are a couple I am going to look at today, I live in phoenix and my budget is about 2500-2800.

http://phoenix.craigslist.org/evl/cto/4059403796.html - It looks clean but lacking information and engine picture. Be cautious.
http://phoenix.craigslist.org/wvl/cto/4058616428.html - Also looks clean but I would ask for proof on the rebuild.
http://phoenix.craigslist.org/evl/cto/4040771380.html - Would want proof on the rebuild once again and clutch. Also find out if it was turbo'd. If it was I'd walk away.
http://phoenix.craigslist.org/cph/cto/4059813806.html - Salvage title. 220k miles. Overpriced.
http://phoenix.craigslist.org/wvl/cto/4059236549.html - Seems okay. But windshield will need replacing. And replaced engine with 170k, I'd check everything in and out to make sure no shortcuts where taken.
Overall, I'd go out and buy a compression tester to test the engines. I'd look in and out all over everything. Check wiring to make sure nothing was tampered with or any shortcuts were taken. Of course, check for leaks. Listen for knocking in the engine. Smell for burnt oil. Let the cars run for a bit while checking things out to make sure no overheating happens. ****, go with a jack and lift the bitch up and check underneath. Its easy to disguise problems. Engines could have a immaculate top engine bay but underneath are caked with oil. Check the wiring above the pedal near the fuse box. Check spark plugs for oil or other problems. Inspect belts. Check fluids. If you have any other questions you can PM me and I'd be glad to help. Just be cautious and check everything twice. Goodluck
