Default To buy another car or pimp the civic

Well basically I have 8 grand to spend.

I own a completely stock 1995 honda civic cx hatchback.

What would you do?

Keep the civic and swap something fast into it.

OR

Keep the civic stock and put a down payment on a used s2000 and keep the civic as a winter beater?

I'm just a little sick of these "what would you do questions", this has nothing to do with anything important you just want other's opinions. do what you want, i wouldn't trust some of the opinions you might here, everybody has different opinions. some people won't be able to handle the car insurance payment of an s2000 ....... have you thought about that??? I would GSR or c5 swap, suspension work, brake swap, and just hang on to the left over money if there is any, because you may have some "swap problems" down the road. Just my opinion and my $.02

If you can handle the insurance, do it. Definitely.

I personally..would probally put that $8000 toward a decent looking car to use as a daily driver...

Than just save up and put money into the hatch

But yea if you can afford the insurance and monthly payment on the S2k..Go for it

Those things are awesome

while s2000's are pretty f***ing cool, i'd stick with the civic...main reasons? insurance, parts availability/costs for repairs/upgrades.

the insurance on an s2000 is going to be damn near rediculous. plus, you're tied into a decent sized car payment. depending on where you live, your insurance rates will be high, plus you will probably have to go with a predetermined full-coverage package, since someone is going to be financing the s2000. build that civic...seems like you have it paid off. your insurance will be cheaper for the same amount of coverage. parts are so much cheaper for civics than they are for s2000s for very obvious reasons. here's a basic build for that civic for $8000:

D16 Engine/Tranny Swap: $1200 (incl. extras)
ACT Clutch/Pressure Plate: $350
Fidanza 7.5 lb. Flywheel: $300
GReddy Turbo Kit: $1700
HKS Super-Sequential Blow-Off Valve: $250
Most 16" Enkei Rims/Tires: $900
GReddy Cat-Back: $500
Pivot VTC-R Controller (Air/Fuel and VTec Controller): $270
H&R Cup Kit Coil-Over (2"F/1.75"R Drop, with adjustable damping rates): $610
Checkpoint 3" Tach: $100
Checkpoint Short Throw Shifter: $35
Checkpoint LED Shift ****: $35
Ractive Front Upper Strut Bar: $35
Ractive Rear Upper Strut Bar: $35
Ractive Rear Lower Strut Bar: $35
Ractive Cross-Drilled/Slotted Rotors: $120
EBC Green Stuff Brake Pads, Front: $65
New OEM Brake Shoes: $25
Pedal Covers: $40
Shift Boot: $30
Xenon Bulbs $30
Clear Corners: $20
Projector Headlamps: $175
Ractive M3 Style Carbon Fiber-Look Mirrors: $90
Custom Gauge Faces: $50

Total: if i didn't make any errors calculating, this comes up to $7000. Granted, I'm assuming you'll be doing the labor yourself, and there'll be a little more on shipping, but still...blow the rest or pay up the next year in insurance or whatever, but look what this got you... you now have a sleeper looking civic that goes, stops, turns, and goes "psshhht" every time you shift. you'll have a big chunk of fun that's paid for and affordable to insure...i'd rather have all of this than an s2000 i can barely afford the payments and insurance on... but it's your cash...spend it as you choose.

by the way...bring your money to my shop and i'll turn your car into a demon...

best of luck to ya!
