im about to buy a 92 hatch and it has a salvage title. just curious on how many VINs there are on the car. i have to take it to state patrol and before i buy it i want to make sure all the VINs are the same. aslo one question, the guy replaced the dash and forgot to put on the original dash VIN back on, is that gonna screw me over. i dont think its stolen though. thanx guys

this is PRE 92 civic / crx forum.. try the 92-00 civic forum...

but anyways there's a vin on the dash and on the driver side door.. and if its scratched off of the door.. then dont buy it.. i guarentee you its probly stolen.. unless its registered.. becuz how the hell do you just for get the put the vin back on.. thats bullshit.. you cant just "FORGET" something like that... but if you KNOW FOR A FACT its not stolen.. then go for it.. but i wouldnt buy it.. i was working with a guy who wanted to sell me a CRX with single cam ZC.. but he changed the dash and the door vin was scratched and i didnt buy it off him.. i couldnt trust it.. and i even worked with the guy..

Sorry about it being in the wrong thread, i was new and needed a quick answer. the VINs are there, none of them are scratched and the doorjam and firewall VINs match the title but the dash doesnt. says he bought it from his buddy that was parting out a car. he wanted to go with the black interior.nothin is stolen and checked the carfax and everything was clear.
