Bumper covered in soot - built d16
I have an EJ with a fully built y8. Has Supertech pistons, Eagle rods, Supertech valvetrain, all new oem gaskets. I had the machine shop set the ring gaps (don't have the numbers offhand) but I went a little loose on the rings and piston to wall as I plan to push the engine to 350-400 hp and wanted to give room for expansion. I built the engine last winter, personally drove the car for its first 1500 miles and it would dirty up the rear of the car relatively quick, it does have a good amount of blow by in my opinion, pull the oil cap off and it has pressure puffing out. I sold the car to a friend, he put another 5k on it, I sold my Evo and just bought the car back.
So here I am with the engine having 6-7k on it, and I am finally going to turbo it since my Evo is gone, just want the soot issue figured out. If I remember correct when I first had it I would have to add maybe .5-1 quart of oil in 1500 miles, which to me seems like a lot. It is still on the stock obd2a ecu with all sensors, I just did a compression test and I had about 185-190 on all 4, really good numbers. I am planning on doing a leakdown soon.
So it comes down to what I believe are the possibilities...
-Rings? Is it possible that the soot is from burning oil? Does it seem like I am burning more than I should and the blowby is an issue?
-Rich? Excessive carbon buildup outside the car is a common trait of running rich.
What should my next step be? Hook up a wideband I have and see where my numbers are at? My valve adjustment should be good as I did it last wear when I set the engine up. Thanks.

And never mentioned what EMS he is running. Is this even tuned? Are you running larger injectors in it? Lots of info being left out.

Stock ecu, stock injectors. It is not tuned and on stock cam still. Supertechs are about 9.3:1 in my setup so not far off from stock, so I wouldn't expect fuel maps to be off enough to make it run rich to the extent of covering my bumper.

So you would say that it's all due to richness and not burning oil or anything? I need to put my wideband on it and see.
