built z6 guestimates!
Hey guys, well my built d16z6 is on it's way. Theres not very many so it's tough finding figures for these motors. Forged rods, 9:1 JE pistons, Nuformz block guard machined in, .20 bore over, tolerecend, blue printed and hoaned. What kind of hp ratings you think ? Shouldn't be much over the stop 125 but I'll be able to boost a little more reliably. Just looking for some ideas, ill take it to the dyno in a month or so if im lucky. Thanks,
Matt

Sounds like you may have lost a little power compared to stock. Why did you lower your compression? I understand the whole low CR + high boost, but just wondering why you didn't go higher CR (like 10.5:1) with low boost instead.

I plan on running 10psi on the street and about 15 or so at the track. I'll probaly end up running more on the track depending on how its tuned. I didn't want to get too high of a compression ratio and not be able to do that. Thanks,
Matt

My point was that more psi doesn't mean more power. Plus with lower CR, you lose low end torque before the turbo spools. Just curious on your decision. Have fun at the track.

with compression that low i'll run 15 psi on the street and 18 on the track... that built D16 can take a lot of abuse provided it's tuned properly... i have a friend with a 95' civic coupe, D16z6 built with 10.5:1 compression and running 14psi on the street with Greddy turbo... runs great and hasn't blown yet...

high compression turbos is what more people need to be doing. If I had the money, I'd do about a 10.2 to 1 compression Z6, and tune it to run 8 psi street and 12-14 track....as long as its tuned and you got some forged slugs, it will deffinately rip with less turbo lag and way better throttle response

Be careful building that head. porting done for NA isn't always good for turbo. However a stage 1 cam (or turbo cam), and new valve train is always a good thing
