built b16b /drag turbo/ crx..somethings wrong whats that sound
i friend of mine just droped his b16 into his crx, when he started the motor he starts to hear this taping sound at first we thought is was the the timing so we check it out and it was fine..next we took the head off and we notes that the pistons were hiting the head it started to leave marks where it was hitting..then we thought how cound that be? he has low compression. we took it to the placed where we got the motor done and now the guy is saying that it not his fault.we did the research and we are using eagle rods for a b16/18 so he had to have done something wrong ...what should we do..how can he prove it was the shop ...so far he put 3000 in building the motor alone what should he do?

b18 rods are longer than b16 rods....so that could be the problem....need to find out what rods you have.....
was the engine built by someone else or your friend??

well b16 rods are different than b18 rods. that might be your problem right there.
if you are using rods for a b18 motor in a b16 block with a b16 crank then you are going to have some piston contact . the stroke is too tall.

well, B16 rods are shorter than B18 rods......... (b16s are 134.36mm, and B18C1's are 138mm, B18B1's are 137mm)
so theres no such thing as "B16/B18 rods"
if he put B18x rods in there, thats why the pistons are hittin the head
edit- wow, guess i kinda got beat to that one............
