Default Building a single cam

I don't know why but the thought popped into my head.... I might have a single cam motor laying around in my garage real soon and was thinking, "since it's gonna be sitting there why not build it. So i was wondering if there is anyone out there that you know of that has done this already and what did they do.... What size can i go with piston wise and what company is recomended same with the rods....

im getting ready to get my engine rebuilt in a couple of weeks and im not sure if they're boring it out to a 1.7 or 1.8. its a d16z6. ive heard that eagle rods and zc pistons are really good. i was planning on getting a skunk 2 stage III cam put in when they rebuild it. also, putting a d16y8 head and getting it honed or port and polished is really good, too.

A fast and cheap build would be Z6 block with OEM ZC pistons, Eagle or LS rods, balanced and machined. Head, go with a Skunk 2 cam or whatever you like with some springs and retainers, port and polish with a Y8 head gasket. Y8 intake manifold, LS throttle body, AEM CAI, DC header and Hondata. If tuned right, you could easily get 185 flywheel and around 140-150 whp

That setup would rip in a (keyword) light car. The Z6 or Y8 biggest enemy is weight. If my car gets jacked i am definitely going the light hatch w/ a built d16 route.
