Alot of research. Higher compression. Build.

What does build mean to you?

LEGOS! imo, all motor SOHCs are pointless unless you are a baller

mill the head, smaller head gasket, higher compression pistons... for starters for higher compression.

Fully build the head: cams, valves, springs, rockers Ect.

you will come to a point where you will really top out in all motor with out selling your left nut to texas. its better to go with turbo, at least then you can upgrade further, or like i said to you before a swap.

But understand if you raise you compression.... don't plan on changing your mind and wanting to turbo.

I'd go turbo if I were you. All-motor SOHC's probably aren't going to be as fast as you'd like...IF that's what you like.
