Default building an engine

I have a D16Z6 engine that i want to build for boost, and i have an idea of what internals i want and what kind of power i would like to make. But Im curious if the block itself can withstand the pressure and if i should sleeve my motor for boost. Im looking for about 300hp or more not interested in nitrous just turbo. thanks

Well if you have the money then sleeve it and you will never have to worry about it. I have a friend with a stock D16Y8 boosted and it's doing just fine. All I can say is if you have the money then do it right, but if you don't then don't worry about it.

If you want it to be very reliable, then sleeve it. You would
probably be able to run 15 to 20 psi on a sleeved block and
depending on what rods and pistons,
and bearings you have still have it be a very reliable car. But
I bet it would be alright if you didn't sleeve it too and it would at least last
a long time if the block is structurally sound. But you wouldn't be able to run
a lot of boost so getting to 300whp would be pushing it.

If you're looking at 300whp you should think about getting a dual cam motor. The single cam motor can get you to your goal, but in the end it may cost more than swapping in and boosting the dual cam.
