Default buildin up a dx engine

Due to my financial situation right now and payin for college and stuff i dont have enough money for a swap right now....so im goin to build up my DX engine......anyone have any suggestions on what the best road to take for doin this woudl be.....like what parts shoudl i get first,which would add the most for my engine, stuff like that.....sorry for the n00b question

thanks for ur help....how much u think that whole set up will be....have intake and exhaust, but intake is for dx engine.....so total it would be like what?$500 or so?

well, y8 intake mani you could get for around 75, the head depends on what kind of deal you can find but you can pick them up for as little as 50 bucks, the CAI can range from 50 bucks (ebay) or AEM (around 200), but deffinetyl get CAI and not short ram. The Headers your looking at around 250 and then the catback exhaust your looking around anything from 300 to 600 and even higher depending on what you want which I would recommend 2.5inch catback piping. So all together, your looking at around 1grand for just that stuff unless you get some used stuff, then the price can be dramatically lower.

i am getting rid of my SI engine as soon as my swapp is ready to dropp in ( some times next month) i have complete motor and tranny. motor has a rod knock but tranny and head is fine. if u come to NY and pick it up ill give it to u for cheap.


EDIT its out of a 92 hatch

250 for a motor with a rod knock, thats insane, you can get a complete d16z6 swap for around 200 with a good running engine... sorry man but im just looking out for a fellow honda-techer
