Build Planners Block????
Basically, I am trying to plan a build for my 98civic hatch and I am having a hard time deciding on what exactly to do with the car. Personally I really want a boosted car and I also want to keep my AC. Goals for that build would be around 350hp, fully rebuilt engine, with a T turbo setup. On the other hand my buddy really thinks I should go with a Kswap. I wanted to get some extra imput on this topic.

So Ig what I am asking really, would a filly rebuilt engine with forged internals and everything with a turbo be a pretty bullet proof build? Or would going with a Kswap be better?

If money really isn't a problem, take your car to a shop and let them build it for you.
There are motors out there that aren't a D or a K. A B18C1 (GSR) with a forged rotating assembly, SI transmission with an LS 5th, and a properly sized turbo can easily give you 350 to the wheels, stupidly fast acceleration, and good gas mileage. A built and boosted B swap at 350WHP will also be much more reliable, and have much more longevity, than a 350WHP D.
For the price of a properly done, boosted K swap, I could build two B swaps easily. It's not about spending more, it's about spending smart. Don't waste your money on a motor you don't need.

Yeah, true. My whole thing is I want to keep the AC in my car and I was thinking the best way to go would be to stick with a D-series engine. Especially since I wanted to try and do it myself. And I dont think that there are any good shops around me to take my car to to discuss building it.

I plan on it. Still just trying to weigh how much its gonna cost and stuff. Another question would be If I were to build it to 350hp would the car just sit there and spin tires all the time.

It's easy to keep AC in a B swap - just use a B20 AC bracket, and you don't even have to touch your AC system. No, you won't just sit there and spin tires - that's a problem with the driver, not the car.

Re: Build Planners Block????
On the other side of the coin,I'll be about $1500 down when I have a freshly rebuilt LS with forged internals swapped in, and about $3000 in once I'm boosted and tuned to 300WHP. It's all about spending smart.
Also, as a matter of personal opinion, if you're building your car to go fast, who cares how it looks? A $3000 full fancy paint job gets fucked up the same way a $300 Maaco special does on the track, and no one at the track cares how your hood looks open - they just want to see lap times and drag slips.

Re: Build Planners Block????
Yeah Im actually still trying to figure out how much its all gonna cost. Im in it for the long haul n Im going to be using excess school grant money to do most of the build, so how ever much it takes. Id rather have it sooner than later though.
