Build ideas : Powerplant?
I recently purchased a 92 VX hatchback and now I'm looking into getting a swap. The swap is going to a B series swap to keep things simple, but which one? Vote and post your reasons/advice/etc. Thanks!
For some reason I can't start a poll so here are my ideas. I want it to be quick and reliable, I'm going to use it for autocross and hopefully some road racing but I still want it to be streetable. If you have 1/4 mile times for each of the setups it would help too.
B16 all motor
B16 w/ boost
B18C all motor
B18C w/ boost
B18C5 all motor
Trying to keep it under 5000-6000$

B20...more torque than any of the other 1.8 motors...even the GSR one. i have a GSR setup right now but i MIGHT go B20 for torque and displacement...

yea the typical answer B20, B20 thats all people think about. ok you go ahead and get a B20 and dont build the bottme end. you will soon see your sleeves crakc and you wil be stranded on teh side of the road saying to yourself " damn i shoudl have got a B18c1"

Out of those listed, I say either the ITR all motor or the GSR boosted. I would love to have either of those in my car. $$$ holds me back from those.
However, I would go with D16y8, D16z6, etc personally. Build it for boost. Done. For 6k, you can build yourself a very nice and powerful engine. Blow something up? D-series parts are generally cheaper. This is my plan, if I can finish my cutlass and keep up on college tuition .
