Default build d16 or swap ???????

im thinking of building my d16 back to spec or to just swap out for b16 or b18 nice clean swap.

my option d16 sleeve rods pistion set-up
VS
JDM swap b16 b18

the only con of the b16 or b18 is its used and unkonw miles.

whats the idea for this problem , the reason for this is i got a d16 boosted and its smoking and surging and it feels like it missing on on the highway 4500rmp or more like its getting no gas or missing, and at low end no power just reves faster then spools u can hear a spool loud but car dose not move.

any help would be much appericated .

and one more question whats the diffrenet between dry and mid sleeves

you have a boosted D16 and you wanna build it back to stock? that makes no sense, why would you do that?

Your second option sounds better. If you want a fun street car boost is .

If you plan on lapping alot then a nice gsr motor will be excellent ( or even just a plain ol B18b )

im not looking for fancey or the best of the best , my motor is built now its sleeved with egale rods and vitaria piston, to wath the owner befor me told me it had, stock head, it just smokes, so im just looking to not have to build it again or for a long long time, i drive it with love and care but some people drive my car from time to time i dont like it or let them but i have too so, with this being said my car is all i got and im not a material kinda guy but i like my car alot.

should i save money for a fully built one on line like the web pages got like a bisimto or
http://www.dh-racing.com/motors.html#beast or something like that, or is this just over priced motors i can build my self for half the cost, cuz i can upgrade with a bigger motor and still be fresh new.

thanks for your input people.

just looking at options.

If your block is good. and just having issues with the head. Just work on the head . just replace all seals, check valves and cam and be enjoy.

No point in going B series if you already have a good setup.

If you have a D, the most cost-effective option is a Vitara build and boost...no need to sleeve. If the sleeves in the block are bad, get another D...they're cheap. I don't understand why people swap D's out in lieu of an NA B series. Given a set amount of money, you'll have more fun and make more power with the above method...

Agreed. I tink the vitara build is one of the most overlooked builds in the honda community. Everyone wants to be able to say i build this piston/rod motor when they can do the vitara build for half as much and still get about the same power numbers.

lol this thread is hard to understand, it's like revenge of the noobs.

anyhow rebuild the d series or build a new dseries with vitaras and use FJR spec rods to up the compression ratio.

like a couple people stated in this thread it's nonsense to swap a stock bseries in place for a boosted sohc

i love my boosted single cam, it's fun and reliable. and if something does happen to it the dseries are so cheap to rebuild it's ridiculous

i have no future plans of ever swapping out my trusty old dseries unless i get the money gathered up to do a J swap

I would definitely upgrade to a bigger displacement like the b18 stock or even if you still want the turbo you could just sell your single cam manifold and get one for a b series and their you are you will be way faster than before of course after you give it a good dyno tune. but other than that Honda engines are really reliable if you give it its proper maintenance like oil change here and there and tune up when you have too. unless you love to stomp on it like me at every stop sing but still dohc is the way to go.
