Budget project car/DD
So I'm looking into a new daily drivers/ light project car. My uses for the car:
Everyday driving, this will be the car I drive everywhere, to school, down to the city, etc.
Being I am driving it so much I need it to run reliably.
Reliability>Performance.
I'm looking at a 4-door civic. I don't plan to do anything to the engine besides maybe a cat back exhaust other than preventive maintenance. So I'm keeping the D16.
Here is the "project" part though, I want to run the car pretty low. But now "slammed."
Reason is I live in Chicago so we have pot holes, train tracks, weird inclines, and winters.
I want to run as low as I can safely. So I dont need to worry about my oil pan, axles breaking, things scrapping to much etc. I dont want to get my frame notched.
Basically I plan to invest in some coilovers, 15-16inch rims and the rest goes into a decent sound system.
so....
What will I need to look into to make the car run reliably like this? Do I need to buy or change anything in addition to coilovers to run low reliably?

Invest the time learning to drive a slammed car. That's what is most important. If you don't watch the road and drive like a dumbass then don't slam it. Period.

Yeah, you're going to have some problems driving anything low.
If you're truly concerned about reliability, I'd stick with 15" or even 14" rims. 16s are going to be more likely to bend or dent on potholes.
Then, pretty much get whatever Civic you want. They are all more or less equally reliable. If I had to pick the most reliable, I'd say it would be an EG Si hatch. I guess.

if you wanna be slammed, your most likely going to scrape, i scrape and im not even close to slammed, the lower you go the worse it is for your cvs, they start to get put at angles that are not good for them. pay attention to where you drive take bumps slow, and your oil pan should be in to much danger, but im 98% sure it will scrape and get dented.

Buy my 93' Ex Sedan with a JDM H22 SWAP. I drive it everywhere and to an home from school on the weekends (300 miles round trip) I am just trying to get out of the Honda Game and already have another civic which takes precedence. I have pics of the car if you have a price in mind let me know what your looking to spend.
