Default Budget gsr

Hello everyone! Just so you all know what I'm working with here ya go.

1998 civic ej8
GSR swap w/100k
Looking to get a fast, reliable DD.

My motor just recently started knocking. I am using this as an opportunity to get a bit faster than before. There is a bunch of ways I can go with this. B20v, lsv, just rebuild, etc. However I wanna stay away from lsv/b20v due to reliability. I know they're not all unreliable, however I want this running asap and know they need a bit more to take a beating.

What should I do to keep reliability and be a little bit faster than before?
this is my DD that I drag on the weekend.

Thank you everyone, keep in mind I have the knowledge to do most the labor myself, and my budget is right around 1k.

If you want a faster b series on a budget, b20v is pretty much the only way to go. I don't know what you mean by they take more to lay a beating? Just break it in properly and beat on it like any other motor. Don't rev the **** out of it, like dicking with the rev limiter IMO 8.2k rpm is enough and anything beyond that will sacrifice longevity on a stock motor.

They can be just as reliable as any other Honda motor if built right.
