Default Broken VC Bolt

Hey guys, recently i broke a vc bolt by over tightening it. The bolt is not even flush it broke off beneath the hole. Im pretty sure the only way to get it out would be with a drill extractor but i dont want shards of metal to go in my oil. Do i need to take the head off? Or can i keep driving with 4/5 vc bolts. So far it hasnt been leaking. thanks in advance

Put rag towel around where you're going to extract. Drill small hole then use extractor tool.

You need to pull the valve cover off and see if you can get the stud out with vise grips or something then replace the stud

I have taken the valve cover off and there is no way to grip it, The stud is under where it screws into. it broke off under, it is not even flush. my friend said i would have to take it to a machinist but i really dont want to.

Use a center punch. It'll make the first drill easier.
