A friend of mine managed to break three out of four wheel studs, dont know how. we have taken the rotor and caliper off but we are having trouble getting the old studs out. please understand we are just learning.
My question is: Does any one have online directions showing how to change wheel studs on a Honda, specifically a 2000 civic.

take the rotor off and all u should see is a spindle with the broken studs sticking out...wack the broken studs with a hammer...they will come out...if they dont come out first try keep doing it......next put the new studs in and push them in somewhat snug(ur not pushing them to go into the hole completly u are pushing them in so they dont fall back out when utting on the new rotor)...put the new rotor on and put some washers on the stud..than put the lug nut on and tighten and losen and than tighten and losen about 400 times (exageration).....it works best with a air gun....the studs should be set in place...put everything back on correctly pull the car out of the driveway make sure the brakes work and than do a burn out ...I use to do this about 2 or 3 times a day at my old job

ok, just talked to my budd, he says that hes is having problems getting the hub absembly off and that is blocking the bolts from being pushed through. does that make any sence?

u need to take the caliper off...I think its a 12mm...slide the caliper off than remove the brake pads and than remove the 2 screws holding the rotor on..it should just come off afeter doing that...if the rotor is stuck on wack it with a rubber maled

never undo lug nuts when they r still hot. and try not to use air wrenches

save yourself the trouble and go to NTB and just pay them $50 to do it. If you really want to do it yourslef, you need a machine press and press the hub off, then hammer the studs off and put the new one on, and press the hub back on. Its a lot easier if you just take off your front spindle.

I usually do work myself, but something like this, I would just pay an alignment shop to do.

ok normally on most cars all you do is remove the rotor and hammer the old ones out, on the freakin hondas you have to press out the bearing cause theres a lip there blocking it, you wont be able to get the studs on trust me. if you try to remove the bearing by hammering it out it will screw the bearing up cause its a sealed unit. then you will need to replace it if you go that route and still have to have the thing pressed in no matter what. best cheapest method is to remove the front fork and bring it to the dealer. otherwise theyre going to hit you up for like $250+

sounds good guys, we took your advice and brought it to a shop and they removed the hub, gave it a good hit and the studs came right out, thanks again very much ...Luke
