Default broken into = salvage title

can your title become salvaged if it was broken into? ie. broken ignition, clutch pedal, steering column and winshield.

If you go through insurance and they deem the damge to be salvaged due to theft I dont see why not.

I agree with the 2 responses. Just don't let insurance know anything about it and then it wont be salvaged. Usually Salvage title are created when someone's car gets jacked and the insurance has to pay for all the losses.

A salvage title is usually issued because the damage to the vehicle exceeds the value of the vehicle. Sometimes, states have branding laws that require the vehicle to be declared a total loss when the damage exceeds a certain percentage of the value of the vehicle. In Wisconsin, that figure is 70%, but it only affects vehicles seven model years old or less.

Short answer: if the damage from the break-in exceeds either the value of the vehicle or the branding threshold, and you report the claim to the insurance company, they will report the damage to the state and the title will be branded.

So as long as it's just a window or something like that, you're fine.
