Broken exhaust help?
So a year ago a mate of mine moved overseas and I bought his project car - a 92 del sol he was restoring/modifying. A few months ago the exhaust tip sort of broke off.
This is where it gets insanely difficult to describe... There is what looks like a hose clamp under the car with 2 metal rods which go into the exhaust hangers. I've said this to a number of mechanics and 'muffler specialists' yet 0 have any idea what i'm talking about.
The 'hose clamp' (a big metal ring which goes around the muffler) snapped in half.
I've searched for exhausts and mufflers and they all have the metal rods welded to the actual muffler (see link below).

I have 3 questions:
Is there a name for the 'ring'? All i've found are motorbike "muffler brackets" or "muffler straps".
Are the rods the same direction as an EG? I think one face forwards and one back.
Is it better to get the rods welded to the muffler?
-I went back to my hometown and left the CRX on the other side of the country and have 2 days to get it fixed before driving it back home.
This is it if anyone wants to see.

Re: Broken exhaust help?
It's called an exhaust hanger.

They're the cheap and lazy way to put an aftermarket exhaust on a car. Yes, you should have proper hangers welded on.
