broken bolt for a valve cover
My buddy has a 2000 integra ls and he took off his valve cover to paint it and while putting it back on he broke a bolt in the front. The bolt looks connected to the head so we couldnt just drill it out and replace it. What should he do to fix it? Because the valve cover isnt retaining oil and its leaking out the side

Re: broken bolt for a valve cover
Don't the B series have a stud in the head that the valve cover slips over? A grommet and nut is then put on top of that. I think your friend should be able to just remove that stud and replace it. Post a pic though.

Does he know you dont need to torque down those bolts that hard to where it breaks?
A lil over hand tight is good.
Have him take off the valvecover again...look at the broken stud...very obvious how to take it off. Bring it with you to a dealer and get a new one. They are like $ 7 max.

Re: broken bolt for a valve cover
If the studs busted off in the head, have you tried a small easy out? Aside from taking it to a machine shop thats what i would try.

As stated take off valve cover and see if any of the stud is raised off the block, then use some vise grips to get it off. If flush then an ez out.
