haha i was just going to ask him that.................i think its a combo of:
no preload
over tq axle nut
AND MAYBE incorrect axle angle all of this leading to his ends snapping off

Re: (RS2 FAB)
There is so many things that could be wrong. I highly doubt this is a preload problem. Its a stock D series for crying out loud. Im thinking its a combo of position of the motor/axle, and the LSD. Do you have a spare trans by any chance? Is your car slammed?

Or he's buying the cheap $40.00 lifetime replacement axles. You get what you pay for. I just put 5 in a 91DA before I found one would last.
There are some out there that cost about $125.00 that are better.
Or go to the Drive Shaft Shop or Gator

Re: (kaiba)
preloading is when u pull and hold the ebrake up and let the clutch out a little bit so that the front end raises and the *** end sinks.. this make for a better launch.

Car sit just a little higher than this. Picture was taken 2 days ago.
The first broken axle was from autozone. Second I'm not sure. I found that fidanza make axles for the D-series. Or should i go with something else?

Re:
Is it just me, or does it appear that the axles are popping out of the transmission when they are snapping? They both seem to be undergoing quite a bit of torsional force to cause that, especially in the 2nd pic where it looks twisted only on the end. If the entire axle was undergoing the same force, it would be more likely that the axle would shatter in the middle or near the wheel. Plus, not to mention, if the same damage was done to the diff, he wouldn't be able to get a new axle in there.

IMO, those tires are to big for your setup.

When i pull it out that was the first thing i notice. The axle twist first then snap. I was afraid that the inside piece or diff was damage. But all i did was removed the passanger side and used a 3/8 extender and hammer it out.
New axle went in just find.

i doubt they meant for stock honda axles to be on tires that wide? hell, how far can you even thread the axle bolt?</TD></TR></TABLE>
Tires are 225/45 on 15x8 w/0 offset. And axle nut was thread in just like factory.

Blk00EJ8 has an idea there! I overlooked it too, but at second glance the splines of both appeared to have twisted which leads me to believe they're popping out and breaking as they're exiting the diff.
The car looks goo man! good work. Just practice pre-loading to help save those axles!

That then leads me to think more that the axle is popping out. I guess the c-clip isn't doing its job.

Re: Re: (ek4_b16a)
this picture here leads me to belive that his axel was out of spec when he got it at that store........ next time you buy axels make sure then double check if they are within specs of the service manual.........sometimes they come out a little short or long and sometimes they aree way off........... i looked through 4 sets and the kid was giving me atttitude, but i was'nt going to get a expletiveed acle becuase pimple face wants to text his girlfriend
this picture (bottom definitly shows twist........look at the splines still on the axle.
like stated before it might be popping out then twisting.
how about being over tq'd being pulled towards the hub therefore weaking the seal/hold between axel and trans then twisting and snapping......... ?
innovation 72a mount, avid tq mount.
^^ this concerns me also........poor installation may lead to inproper axle angle....or maybe a tweeked product...... or the fact that he is using 2 diffrent brand mounts. they might be setup for their own sets throwing his angle off

Re: Re: (RS2 FAB)
I don't understand how poor installation may lead to inproper axle angle. The mount can only be install one way, right. I'm mean it's not like it adjustable.
Well for right know I'll just be using that Kragen axle till i save up to buy some driveshaftshop axle. It should up just find for AutoX since i won't or need to launch.

Night and day. If you do decide to buy it. I recommand you change the stuts and belviev(spelling) washer spring.
