i just put ac into my civic (ek b series) i've don't these motor swaps alot and came out good...but this time when i on my ac my compressor doesn't work...the compressor was working great on my friends car...did it break?? fuses and wiring are all good

did u lube and put PAG oil in it before installing and refilling?

no, but the item i purchased to refill has the oil in already...i just tried giving it straight power from the battery and it works! does the clutch only engage if theres pressure in the lines??

i just got everything running but its not coming cold...i took it to the shop and they recharged it but said my expansion valve is bad or might be my compressor. how do it test them without any coolant in lines?

If they recharged the A/C system, then you DO have refrigerant in the lines. If you wish to diagnose the problem yourself, start by looking whether the condenser fan runs and the compressor clutch engages when you turn the A/C on.

i don't anymore because he drained it or recycled it so i can change the exspansion valve...but when i did have refrigerant the clutch did engage...i heard it and seen it...and the fan works also...it just wasn't getting cold. is that the exspansion valve?

It's one possibility, but there are others. At this point, you are stuck trusting the mechanic's diagnosis, correct or not, unless you recharge the system.
