Broke an axle racing, now i need better ones... where from?
So i went to the track saterday, and busted my driver side axle on my first run. the spline shaft sheared right off into my wheel hub. so instead of getting another cheapo replacement axle, i want to get some high hp applications. the problem is im on a budget!!! i cant afford 800 dollars for new axles. does anyone know anyone who makes moderately priced axles that are stronger than OEM replacements? like maybe in the 300-400 price range? even OBX on ebay wants 800 bucks for a set!!

you shouldnt need it...
did you preload your axles before you launched?
600hp hondas uses OEM replacements...i had advance auto on my brothers 420 hp civic never destroyed an axle.
preloading is key.

With stock axles, they are the weak point. If you get stronger axles, that pushes the weak link down the line and to the tranny. Would you rather snap a cheap axle or mess up your tranny? Napa has lifetime warranty on them and they're dirt cheap. Look into that.

i already have lifetime axles so its no breaking and replacing thats the issue, its getting my car home when they break cuz the drag trip is 115 miles from my house lol.

Keep OEM axles. Think of them as a kind of safegaurd for your transmission. Learn to preload and you should be fine.

As you're sitting in the lane you'll have the E-brake up... and as the lights come down slightly let out the clutch til you feel it TOUCH, not fully engage. The ebrake will hold you in place for a second. when you see the green light. let the clutch the rest of the way out, and drop the ebrake. this way you have tension on all drivetrain parts when you leave instead of slamming all that **** together when you leave the light. I hope that helps. Probably not well explained.

Id say just get some more OEM and work on your preloading. I have not many good things about gators, very few good things actually.

i dont reccomend them inless your putting down some real power and your transmisson is up to the task or you will be replaceing that next. stick with replacements, take your axle back and get a new one and go back out, possibly even pick up a spare for each side if your scared.
