Default Break pads need replacing?

OK guys, my del sol is making a hissing sound from the front of the car when i break hard. Im pretty sure this means i need new break pads, but for the sake of i have VERY LIMITED money, as i just bought my b18c5 swap that i need to put in, i want to make sure that it is whats wrong. So, when the hissing sound occurs when i break, does it mean its time for new pads?

Hissing or squeaking. Hissing may be a vacuum leak from your brake booster. Does your pedal feel different from normal?

I hate to say this but it's BRAKE not break...the first is something you do and the second is something you take..

What kind of rotors are on your car? sometimes slotted or drilled rotors will give off a swooshing/hissing noise. If you really want to know, pull a wheel off and have a look, see if you have any pad left but make sure you check on the front and back of the rotor as not all pads wear equally, especially if there's a problem with the caliper.

i heard the manufacturers put the certain materials in the brake pads that creates the hissing sound to notify the consumer when to replace the brake pad

this is when the pad is worn down, and the screeching noise is from that metal tab touching the rotor. if you ride like this too long, youll put some nice grooves on the rotor.

Its a hissing sound but only when i brake hard, not light braking, and the brake pedal most certainly dosnt feel any different. so new pads? or somethin else?

its not in the pad, its a giant metal tab that grinds into the rotor when the pad wears too far down.

its called the idiot tab in the industry.

k, i got this car off my stepdad like 4 months ago (late july) and he told me the pads were just replaced, just like he told me my (now bald) tires were just put in . b/s i say. I'll look at the pads in the morning, and if they are gone i will replace them. Thanx guys, if it still persists, as the govenator says...
I'll be back

Could be just dust in between the pad and disc. When it's absolutely necessary to change your pads you'll hear a sensor making a whiny squealing noise as you drive even when you're not applying the brakes, at least that's how it is on my Sol.
