Default Brakepad shims?

So I recently installed some Thermo-quiet ceramic brakepads along with Brembo blanks on my recently purchased 98 LX daily driver. I noticed that neither the new pads or the old pads (whatever brand they were) did not come with brake pad shims. I heard they are necessary to prevent noise. So far my brakes are making little to no noise but then I also haven't driven it much after the brake job.

Is it normal that my Thermo-quiet pads did not come with shims and are they needed are not? If so, can I just purchase any set that works with my car or are they brakepad brand specific?

I also noticed that in the Honda service manual in the brakepad change section, it only shows the outside pads as having shims. Anyone know anything about this?

Thanks,
Brandon
