brake upgrade
alright so i have a 92 cx and i want to upgrade my brakes badly. I plan on getting rid of the rear drum. I was wondering if i'm better off with either cross drilled, or cross drilled and slotted rotors. I heard the cross drilled and slotted are better in that they won't crack and cool down quicker.
Any other opinions anyone could give me? I'm also wondering which rotors i'd be better off with.
Thanks, John

Re: brake upgrade (O.G triple O.G)
I would'nt buy cross drilled rotors. After tracking , most of them have a tendency to crack around the holes. The rotors cast with the holes don't seem to have this problem though, so if you want holes, make sure that they're cast with the holes...nto drilled afterward!

Most here suggest getting brembo blanks... ie no crossdrilling or slotting...
I have crossdrilled front and rears... I like them but the rears make a lot more noise then the front... I think it's becaues they're not vented... but it's kind of annoying... It sounds like you're driving past a field of crickets all the time...
Anyway...
Secondly and more importantly...
You should upgrades your fronts first or at the same time... the front rotors/calipers on cx's are dirt... I'd definately recomend beefing up the front before you'll need the rears to balance it out... (which is all rears reallly do (which does create shorter stopping distance but not as much as bigger fronts do)).

[b]I don't get it... I was saying with crossdrilleds that's what it sounds like... the holes sweeping past the pads that is.[/b}

search archieved messages for "brake upgrade"... you'll find LOTS of stuff on it... basically you want to swap front steering knuckles and hubs from a 94-00 integra... I'd recomend just getting a whole swap over.. master cylinder booster, front and rear brake assemblies...
I like the power stops and all but they're loud... and most hear don't think they do anything but make them more prone to cracking (I dis-agree... My caliper was dragging in the front producing MUCH higher temps then any amount of racing would and they didn't warp... (the company will also replaced any warped rotor for free (at least when I bought them they would))
any way... anything you want to know is out there... do some searching. or be more specific with your question.</TD></TR></TABLE>

I have a 92 VX....I have the stock brake calipers up front with brembo slotted/drilled stock size rotors.....I had these before my rear disc conversion and my SS line upgrade.......I felt a diff and I went through pads faster...I was using AXXIS metal masters, I switched to autozone life time warranty pads and it feels the same......after my teg rear disc conversion and SS lines install I totally felt a diff, but the front needs bigger brakes, I think I'm going EX front with brembo's and autozone pads...hahaha.......I suggest EX set up atleast....if not TEG, but yeah slotted/drilled are great...go for it!!!
