Default brake rotor bolts...?

Can I leave the little bolts that hold the brake rotor off? I know that all, and I know for sure that all of the domestic name companies don't use these bolts(ford, GM, crysler, etc). They just leave the caliper on and keep it in place with the caliper...would it be ok to leave them off of on hondas? Even the muscle cars don't have them. What do you think?

i think it's better to leave them on as a safety measure. and just as a guess, i believe the rotor wouldn't wear evenly from braking because of the instability. just my thoughts.

Take 'em or leave 'em. The screws were there only to aid in assembly. If you can actually put the whole assembly together without them and have no trouble, more power to you. I just leave one in, and lube it real well so it doesn't feeze...

BTW- There is no instability. The rotor is secured when the wheel is torqued down on top of it.

The rotor isn't going anywhere!

As someone said, the caliper and the wheel (once torqued) will stay in place. Due to the large autocross schedule I run (20 events per season) I replace my pads and rotors every 15-18 months. A few years ago, those damn little screws froze and then rounded out at the head when I tried to remove them. After drilling them out, I tossed them.

Never had any problems.

If you think about it once the rim is bolted on there is no were for the rotor to go. It is secured between the rim and the hub.

The bolts in the rotors are useless. Once you put the wheels on the car, the rotor is not going to go ANYWHERE.
