Brake questions for a 97 Civic
Hey guys, Im about to replace the front rotors and pads on my GF's 97 Civic Sdn EX. Do I need any special tools? I have done brakes on my other cars and never had a issue. Just want to know about the rotors. Is it rotor over hub? so do I need any special tools?
My friend said a impact driver would help, but is it necessary?
Thanks

Re: Brake questions for a 97 Civic
C-clamp to compress the calipers back in place. impact driver is recommended, but if you can loosen the screws by hand go for it. Other than that just make sure you get some anti-squeak if your chaning your pads. Good luck.

Impact driver is a life saver. But I get away with hammering a sturdy phillips screwdriver into the head of the screw to crack it loose. Just dont use a small/skinny headed phillips. You will strip it and have to drill/easy out the screw.
And like above, a c-clamp is useful sometimes. Especially if the brakes have been really worn down.
Other than that you got a simple job ahead of you. Couple 14mm bolts for the calipers and phillips for the rotors.
Have fun.
