Brake Poll Willwood Kit vs. Complete Integra brakes
Ok guys I do not know that much about brakes so I figures I would ask you.
I have a 92 Vx Hatch and these are the two set ups I am looking at. Either the Willwood 11" rotor with the 4 piston caliper kit.
Or
The complete brake swap from an Integra (F&R, MC,BB, ebrake cable & PV)
Thank you for all your help

Depends on what you are going for. If its your daily driver and you dont plan on doing any racing and its just for looks, go with Willwood. If you are daily driving and plan on autocrossing, get some SS brake lines and Ford Dot 3 break fluid and that will do you perfectly. If you are a hard core road racer, you already no the answer to the question. With the right pads, fluid, and lines, stock brakes will be just fine and you will have plenty of stopping power..
its up to you.

Thanks for the replies. The willwood kit comes with the steel braided lines. I would like to use the car for autox. Keep the replies coming

I have a VX and its a street car that sees AutoX, and roadcourses. If you aren't going to be roadcoursing it alot, I'd definitly say teg all around. I have teg all around and love it. You wont have fade issues for AutoX, and it'll be good breaking force for the weight of the car. Good pads, fluid etc... go a long way.
I'd also think about upkeep costs, rotors will be cheaper, I'm not sure what pads the wilwood kit uses, but i'd assume they are more costly (larger). I've also heard that wilwood kits dont like the street much, ~10-15k requiring rebuilds.

fastbrakes.com has a wilwood kit thats will clear a 15 inch wheel. Fastbrakes uses a smaller rotor then wilwood but it works as good. But all the other wilwood kits wont clear.

the wilwoods stop on a dime and are an awesome upgrade. The downside is that you need at least a 16'' wheel to clear them. they haven't heard anything about rebuilding them every 12-15 k though. imo a serious must with street driven turbocharged monsters. this is from personal exp. The speeds that you generate with a turbo will overpower stock GSR brake setups in merely a few hard stops. the wilwoods will hold up to that kind of power and resist fade much better. hope this helps.

I ask Brian from fastbrakes this - he has a Wilwood kit that will fit under SOME 15" rims - but not all. I ask him if that kit would fit under stock (99-00) Si rims & didn't exactly know - hopefully he will be able to test fit some Si rims & determine what size (if any) wheel spacer would be needed
<---- he who wants to run Si rims on snow tires in the winter

Willwods are very nice, they do take more work than a normal setup though. I've had mine on all year and made a set of pads last one season.
Nothing really compairs to the performance you can get out of a kit like this.

Here is an install article we did on the wilwood kit on my car and some braking distances with and without the kit. during the test i only had the wilwood fronts and no rear disk conversion nor mc, prop valve up grade.

I htink it just depends on what type of driving you intend on doing. If you plan on taking it to do some autocrossing, then i would say willwood. but for everyday diving on a car that doesnt see a lot of track time, i would go for the gsr upgrade.

I agree, while the Wilwoods are nice, for everyday driving, and maybe a little track, the GSR would be cheaper. But hey, if you have the cash, theres nothing wrong with having stopping power for the streets too.

I'd get teg brakes all around, more than enough surface area to stop a hatch. Get some nicer pads and you're golden. You now stop extremely well, you use stock rotors which are cheap, and you now have the ease of discs in the rear (assuming you have drum now).

I have Integra all around and then went for 11" ITR rotors and bigger ITR calipers up front, it was all very inexpensive and easily serviced and replaced if there are any problems on track or on the streets.
the wilwoods are dope but big $$$$ in comparison.

I'm with you...
Especially since with stock rear drums he's gunna have CRAZY nose-dive when he slams on the brakes hard... ALL the force will be upfront... Way more likely to lock up the front wheels.
I have stock ex fronts and teg rears (with prop. and 15/16ths master/booster). and it stops SICK... I've NEVER had to "slam" on the brakes once since I've installed them... things that I would've been steering to avoid I can now stop with NO problems.

You can never have enough brakes.
However, if you plan on switching over to winter tires, then you can't run the Wilwood as there is no 16" winter tire that I know of that will fit a Civic.

Not true, drums actually have greater stopping power than discs.
