Brake Issue

Brake Issue
So, I just picked up a 96 si a few months ago and it already needs brake work. Problem is I went to the part store and got what I thought to be the right brakes. Got em home, tore everything down only to find out the pads are about a half inch short. Took em back to the parts store in a rage and then realized they hadnt really f'ed up. What they gave me were what were listed for my car. Same size across a few different brands too.
Now, here's were the confusion starts. The car I have is a standard. The pads that "look like they will fit" are from an automatic. Could someone have dropped in the calipers from an auto before I bought the thing? Are they a direct bolt-on like that? Is there any visual way to tell the two apart (auto/manual) If I just buy the pads for an auto, they should just drop right in without issue?
Btw, first time poster. Will be back again. Site looks awesome!
Thanks
-Chris

Re: Brake Issue
Are you talking about civic? There wasn a si civic til 99-00, but i dnt think theres a difference when talking about auto and manual. I did a auto to manual swap, and im still using my original brakes..you sure you got the right brakes? Check again man.

Re: Brake Issue
OP,
Take the wheel off and take a picture and/or post what numbers are stamped into the caliper body.
This is an example of what is typically found on integra calipers 17CL14VN
There is no difference between auto and manual brakes, period. There are however two sizes that Honda used in the front a 9.5" rotor and a 10.3" rotor and they used different calipers. So get us the numbers off the calipers and we will be able to help you identify what you have.
BTW, there was an Si produced in Canada across the 96-00 range, its badged an Ex here in the US.

Re: Brake Issue
Si and ex in fact does share the same caliper, so he must have integra fronts?
Yea, but i figured he lived in the us, thats why i mentioned si was only 99-00. But if hes positive its a 96, then he must canadian? He doesnt have a location, so i assumed lol. I didnt know the cdm si was an usdm ex, good to know!

Re: Brake Issue
Hey folks, sorry for the lack of response on my end here.
I am Canadian so that should clear up a few things right off the top. It is a '96 Si. Badge en all
Ill restate what i said in the OP.
-Went to parts store and bought some pads.
-Brought them home
-Tore the wheel off and pulled the old pads.
-Tried to install the pads the parts store gave me, Didnt fit. The pad's are to short. The old pads are about a 1/2 shorter then the ones from the parts store. (I cannot remember for sure if the "pad" part was any shorter but the metal backing plate was, the "ear to ear" measurment was were it fell short.
-Went back to the parts store and talked with the guy for a bit. His computer is telling him that the auto/manual version have different part numbers. So he brings out a set designated for a automatic and we take a took. The pads his comp is saying are for an auto, are about a 1/2 longer then the pads for a manual.
I was out of time that day to put em in so I just got my money back on the first set and decided id do some asking around before I spent more time tearing it out only to find out they are the wrong ones as well. I have some time this weekend and would like to get this all sorted before then.
I will, as suggested, take a pic of the calipare here sortly and post a pic along with any stampings i can find.
Thanks for the resposes here so far

EDIT:Was gonna post this later, but i had a cpl min before work so i took a few pics. Admitidly not the best, but im strapped for time. Will take more later/tommorow if I can find some time. Cant really make out any stampings in the pics or on person (can make out 2 letters "5A". mostly rusted out.
