brake conversion EG/EJ
Okay just woundering if I were to do a break conversion, owing a 95 civic coupe, I was thinking between GSR & 99-00 Si breake conversions...which one should I go for? under the hood now is stock but plans for the future is k20 (rsx type s) swap...so which one will have the better stopping power for the k20 or just the better stopping power and any idea as to how much will I be looking at paying for it if a shop does it for me? or any info. on that???thanks...

go GSR rear, and maybe upgrade all the rotors to powerslot rotors, and better brake pads and u in the game

would that be doing a conversion to the rear? Cuz the coupe doesn't have rear break unless some do..but just the rear? what about front? only upgrade to power slots in the front then or what?

Rear disk is bling factor basically. Plenty of very competitive a/x people do fine with drums in the rear.
Just get better rotors/pads and call it a day. If you are really wanting to put out the money, go for si/gsr on the front and call it a day.

keep the fronts with good rotors nad pads. if you want to do the rear disc then it dont matter which ones you get, just put good pads on them as well. Remember that the front dose more brakeing then the rear, so dont go cheap on the front.

Can anyone confirm this:
I've "heard" that when you swap GSR Rear Disc for the 92-95 civic hatch drums, there's an arm that comes vertical off the disc hub then horizontal and bolts to the inside of the wheel well, this arm needs to still be the civic one and not the GSR? (I think maybe its called compensator arm??)

Coupe did came with rear disc, but only aviable on the ABS model. I would go with the gsr rear trail arm if you can get the cable and brake line. But i would recomand you upgrade the lines to braide stainless steel.
Also don't foget to get a 4040 proportioning valve of from the non-abs 90-93 integra.

Don't remember if the rotor is larger, but the caliper piston sure is. The car is old and so are the brake lines. The braide lines reduce flex and stress while under braking.

i just did a rear disc conversion and i kind of have to agree. i dont notice a huge difference, but it does look so much better. i couldnt roll the nasty drums with TE37's anymore.

i just did a 00 si rear disc conversion on my 00 coupe and I could feel a huge difference, and I have baer rotors and axxis pads in the front...soo...i don't know whats goin on with yours...but you SHOULD be able to feel something if braking is 70/30...

there is a difference, dont get me wrong. but i dont think its HUGE. but i also am breaking in my freshly rebuilt motor and havent had a chance to try stopping from more than 55mph.

wow lots of misinformation in here...
Seems like many of you need to do some more reading on whats what in the Honda brake world.
Em1 calipers are the same as the Ej8 [si=ex]
You will want Integra calipers, not gsr...because all integra calipers, minus itr, are the same (57mm pistons)
There absolutely no reason to upgrade to 5 lug, other than wheel selection. If you want ITR calipers, just redrill the 11" rotors to 4x100 and use integra/si/ex/abs knuckles.
Have dx knuckles? Either do machine work on them, or swap them out for the proper ones, because any larger caliper will NOT fit on otherwise.
Just because you have a larger engine, or more power, does NOT mean you need better brakes. I REALLY hate this "logic"...
All arms, other than the trailing arm, needs to be from the chassis (civic), not the donor (integra).
Trailing arms are ALL the same....even with DA's the TA's dimensions are almost exactly the same as eg, ek, dc

k so on my 92 civic si, should i swap my callipers for integra callipers? or are you saying that it's the same calliper. and are the front callipers bigger on the integra than my civic?

also i was wondering when i get new rotors should i get drilled or slotted or both. im running a b16a and want to do some auto X this summer. so what would be the best setup.

Just get the brembo blank. Drill slot are just really for show. Btw, drilling the rotor will actually make it weaker. First hand experience.
