Default Brake bleeding on a Honda Civic 1.4 1999

Hi, Has anyone used a Gunson (tyre) brake/clutch bleeder on their civic and if they did, what did they use on the reservoirs for an air tight seal? I actually bought an old reservoir cap for it, which I doctored to go on the reservoir. Trying, to get an air tight seal took a while though.

I have not, I just used a bleeder hose that has a one way valve on it.

First I bench bled the master cylinder. I did this by bending the metal brake lines I cut off the donor car into the brake fluid reservoir. I then hand pumped the master cylinder until all bubbles stopped coming.

After putting on the master cylinder and switching the metal brake lines to the ones on the car being repaired. I then put my bleeder hose onto the passenger rear wheel and loosened the bleeder nipple and pump through about a reservoir worth of fluid. All the while keeping the reservoir from ever going dry.

Moved the bleeder hose to the drivers front wheel and repeated the process.

Then did the same for drivers rear only to finish up on the passengers front wheel.

The "clips" of the hose didn't hold worth anything so I bent them back and just squeezed the black tubing over the nipples. That worked very well and allowed me to do a one man bleed job.

Thanks for the reply and for the detailed procedure, will really help. I was just wondering if anyone had used one of those Gunson Bleeders and what they used to keep the system pressurised without leaks. When I managed to stop it from leaking, I had flushed and replaced the clutch fluid within minutes, So it is great to use. Unfortunately it's not Honda friendly and none of the adapters supplied fit. I wonder if Honda supply adapters for this sort of thing.
