Bouncing idle?
i was told to fix my bouncing idle problem even after its warmed up was to adjust the FITV, so i decided to just take it off and clean it. Before i put it back on, should i adjust it more or less to fix the problem?

Re: Bouncing idle?
Well, if that's the case then you probley have a problem with your IACV not the FITV.
The FITV control idle while cold and the IACV controls idle when warm.

Re: Bouncing idle?
How bad is it bouncing? Sounds like you have a vacume leak imo... spray some carb cleaner (or starter spray) around your engine bay and if you spray it and your engine revs quite a bit after you spray in a certain spot, then you've found where the leak is.

Re: Bouncing idle?
i was out their takind off the IACV and noticed the MAP sensor wasnt hooked up like the connector was to it it was sitting on top, Any idea on why he didnt have it hooked up? Would that be the cause of me bouncing idle when it warms up?

Re: Bouncing idle?
first off just unplug the iacv... when you first start it if it stops bouncing then that your problem.... and to adjust the idle...... screw the idle adjustment screw all the way in and start backing it off 1/4 at a time..... and you are looking for a correct idle of 750rpm......and other question just let me know .... good luck bro....

if you try to fix the idle when the car isn't in diagnostic mode Ie. the little connector isn't grounded out you will be chasing your tail because the car will compensate for it. same way you cant adjust ignition timing on a honda not in diag. mode. I had a very erratic idle (basically 800-3000) on a customers car until the thermostat opend and the wax in the fitv melted. put the car in diag mode by jumping service connector when its warm that will set your iacv dead center then adjust the idle set screw to around 800 then take off the jumper and see what happens if it starts to jump your iacv pry needs the be cleaned. ooh and if your car didnt have the map sensor plugged in did it even rev over 3k because normally it would go in limp mode?? the map sensor is by far the most important non ignition sensor on the car.
