Bought 00 Civic EX - power mirror and clutch problems
ok so i bought a 2000 honda civic ex a few days ago, and i have a few questions about it. the power mirrors dont work, and i was wondering if anyone knew any fuses that i should look at?? I looked under the steering wheel, but there are so much and i have no clue which one is which, but everything else works electronically......except the left side back up light. Then my next problem is when i switch gears the and i dont floor it then i will be riding the clutch because it gets stuck. It gets UNSTUCK when i do floor it. it feels like there is a spring tension or maybe a rod or something that connects the two.....because there is a certain spot on the throttle i pass, and i feel like a little tick(bump) and thats when the clutch pops out(gets unstuck). sorry its so long, but i was wondering if anyone can help me out?? Any help would be greatly appreciated!
P.S. is there such a thing as a ex that is not vtech, cuz my block says d16y8 but the head i have no idea.....maybe different.....and i feel no vtech so i was just wondering if there is such a thing. i have never heard of that before.

Here is the location of the VTEC. If your head has this vtec selinoid then you have vtec. Have you driven honda's with vtec before?

Re: Bought this car and have a few questions
Ok, i went and checked and i do have the vtech sylinode. So i think that it maybe cloged up or something along those lines, how hard is it to replace?? also is there anything that might be bad (i guess thats the right word to use) with maybe internals or fuel pump or something?? and yes i have drivin a few cars with vtech and some i-vtech cars.
Also is there any way maybe it might not be plugged in because i notice that that there is a green connection into the one in the picture??

Re: Bought this car and have a few questions
Lol I've had a y8... Vtec in single cams are more of an economic crossover not nearly as aggressive as the b,h or k series crossovers basically what I'm saying is they have vtec to carry the powerband not to produce quaps more power after engagement like in the dohc motors do... Pretty much the more stock a d16/15 is the less you can hear or feel vtec
O and do make sure to warm up your car before trying to crossover vtec cuz it won't work if u don't

Re: Bought this car and have a few questions
i see, thats interesting well the motor is all completely stock except for an intake. i mean my friend had an all stock y8 also but i can feel his vtech and on this one i cant. He also drive it and couldnt feel nothing. But also i forgot to mention that my knocking sensor is out so i dont know it that would effect it or not?? I just ordered one, so it should be here soon.

Re: Bought this car and have a few questions
Most of the time ppl who say rebuilt with low miles with no papers are nothing more than greasy car sales men that you shouldn't trust point is if the engine looks like it came in that car most of the time it has never left it's mounts so don't believe what that guy say

Re: Bought this car and have a few questions
The coolant temp needs to be at operating temperature for vtec the needle should be a quarter of the way up the gauge check you vtec wires see if they arnt cut or shreded and oil pressure is a must also

Re: Bought this car and have a few questions
ok, ill do that next time. but shouldnt the car be warm enought if you have been driving it for a while to have the needle a quarter of the way up, cuz i have had it a quarter of the way up and more and there is still no vtec. ok ill do that also, when i get the chance. i was kinda thinking the same, maybe some wires but i should have looked sooner. what do you mean by oil pressure?

Re: Bought this car and have a few questions
Oil pressure needs to be sufficient in order for vtec to work to but if your driving around it should be enough as far as temp but yea check the wires make sure they are all there and make sure they all go to the ecu plugs btw what kind of ecu u got in there

Re: Bought this car and have a few questions
What kinda numbers am i looking for on the ECU or where is the type located on it?? And i figured out about the connector it does have one. i checked all the wires and connections and they were all good. i also let it warm up before i drove it and the vtec didnt work either.
