Borla or Magnaflow...which one?
Im gonna be getting a universal muffler for a custom exhaust system. i either wanna go with magnaflow or borla. what do you guys think? what are the sound differences? magnaflow is cheaper and im kind of on a budget. I want something good but not too loud. look at my sig for what car/motor setup ill be running with this system.

I have the magnaflow catback exhaust with a magnaflow oval 14x9x5 and it's really deep... it's almost exactly as loud at low rpms and low throttle as it is when your at high rpms and full throttle...
It's a little too rumbly (not raspy AT ALL) when you're just cruising but I like quite cars. but I also have a gutted cat right now... so I'm sure it'd be damn near silent with the cat on there.
Longstory short it's up to you as far as the style. oval or can and then the amount of space for filler material will determine how loud it is... Just FYI... I put on the larger magnaflow muffler because the fartcan it came with was WAY too loud IMO... there are sound clips of it on an SI on here somewhere... and I hate the tip.
As far as diameter.... I'd go with 2.25 if you're NA and 2.5 if you're turbo... it doesn't really matter though if you have a cat... that will provide all the back pressure the engine will need... but larger piping is more expensive and a waste of money if you don't need it...
good luck.
