Boosted EG Hatch intro and pics
Picked up this EG Hatch in January and have been playing with it since then.
About me: About 11 years ago I was building these cars pretty seriously in a small shop. I've never actually owned one until now. This is the first time I've never actually owned a Mazda Rotary vehicle of some sort. I traded an 04 Mazda RX8 for this 94 EG Hatch. I have been working professionally in the auto industry since 2001. I'm working off my ring rust with car and having fun.
About the car: 1994 EG Hatch VX with NO options - had AC but turbo resides in its home now. JDM B16A with CTR cams. Turbonetics 60-1, back door IC, edelbrock victorx intake and neukin exhaust manifolds. Tuned on Crome for now but going to Neptune ASAP. Internals are stock for the foreseeable future. Exterior is Raspberry Blue Metalic riding on stock Si's and Falken tires. Suspension is neuspeed springs and KYB struts. Stock disc/drum brakes.
The car was acquired from a trade for our 04 Mazda rx8. Straight trade... Yah...
The rx8 is a much more refined vehicle. Light years beyond Honda in ride quality and handling. The problem though was the "problems." Average issues were just getting to be too much effort and $ to care about. I know these Hondas and what I'm sacrificing in ride quality can certainly be made up for in just plain fun factor and low maintenance costs - even with boost!
Plans for the car: CLEAN IT UP! I know these pics make it look clean for what it is but it definitely needs some attention to meet my standards. Engine bay cleanup and mild wire tuck. I firmly believe that form follows function but these motors are too simple to let them get like this. Fab a WG dump tube. Right now it's blasting all over the place. Interior upgrade. Plan to strip it out, apply some moderate sound deadening, new carpets, GSR leather seats with microfiber center sections. Ideally I would like this car to be as comfortable as it can and drive the way a factory tuning division would do it. Above all it must maintain its degree of fun!
