Bolt torque... is guessing ok?

Bolt torque... is guessing ok?
I did my oil and MTF yesterday and I dident know if I put the correct torque on my bolts. I guessed at how much presure it took to get them off for how much I should tighten. I probably overtightened just to be sure. My oil bolt is hand tight (using the wrench). For my MTF drain and fill bolts, they requried me to use part of my jack (the handle) to get some leverage and torque to take them off, so I used the same methods to tighten them. Should I invest in a torque wrench or is guessing ok?

Yes you should. Torque specs are very important, and guessing on things like that could be shitty and cause you to strip out a bolt hole. And you don't want to do that

For things like valve cover bolts, and oil plug or tranny plug, I never used a torque wrench, and never had any problems, but it's the smart way to go. You should purchase a good torque wrench and use it to make sure everything is to spec. Don't be dumb like me

What type or torque wrench is that? At Sears, of course it's Craftsman, the cheapest we carry is $70. Most, $150.

AutoZone special of course. I picked up one of those once, started turning the dial and said F*CK NO I'm not buying that POS. Get a real one, kid.

I usually use a tq wrench for suspension and motor bits. lots of things such as exhaust, drain bolts, don't really need a tq wrench.
