so then they are the same tranny pretty-much? and neither one is better than the other?

Go with your stock SiR tranny, it has the shorter gear ratios that go along with the B16 engine. Dont know why you would pick a GSR tranny, maybe if you wanted a slower car

get an lad tranny....a lil more $$$ but worth it
and my friend put about $1,000 worth of bolt on on his civic and only got around 30hp gain...
but then he spent $300 and got his head ported and polished and ended up with 80 hp gain in the end....
bolt ons are good but think of it this way...if you get a BIG intake manifold, and a nice set of headers....its not going to make a diffrence if the holes in your head are still small oem....
get it ported then work from there

Re: (SOHCcivic97)
well im not sure how much bigger he went....
i know it depends on how much you want to spend....the bigger, the more time it takes, the more money..
take it to your local machine shop and ask what they think.

Your telling him to get a GSR tranny for his B16? What are the benefits for that?

Gear ratios are not the same, the B16's are shorter which help that torqueless motor. Last longer? I dont think he'll be driving the car for 200K miles all these transmissions have the same reliability. Their not just better, a B16 tranny will be suited best for his motor.

How long have you "driven" a LSD gsr tranny? You must of had it for quite sometime.

Re: (92civicx)
I'm gettin a B18 next week if all goes well and I'm gonna stick with skunk2 for most of my bolts on. I haven't looked into any other companies much but skunk2 know what they're doing.

wow, I didn't think it would make that much of a gain from port and poishing! I'm definltey gonna look into that now to...
